Local government units (LGUs) have received a P1.19-trillion national tax allotment (NTA) for 2026, providing funds to implement infrastructure, welfare, and public service programs without delay.
Budget Secretary Rolando Toledo said the timely release ensures LGUs can respond to local needs, including disaster preparedness, education, healthcare, and local infrastructure.
The NTA distribution is based on population and land area, with provinces and cities receiving 23 percent each, municipalities 34 percent, and barangays 20 percent.
Since the Supreme Court’s Mandanas ruling in 2022, LGUs have gained a larger share of revenue collection, giving them more autonomy in managing local projects.
Toledo reminded local officials to use their NTA shares responsibly and comply with reporting requirements to ensure transparency and accountability.
