LAWMAKERS TO SARA: UPHOLD YOUR OATH AS A PLEDGE OF HONESTY

Administration lawmakers are urging Vice President Sara Duterte to reconsider her refusal to take an oath during her recent appearance before a House committee, warning that it could harm her credibility and integrity.

Representatives Jay Khonghun, Gerville Luistro, and Rodge Gutierrez emphasized that taking an oath is not merely a formality but a vital commitment to honesty and accountability.

Khonghun expressed confusion over her refusal, questioning why she would avoid such a basic gesture if she had nothing to hide.

Luistro added that without the oath, her statements lack credibility. At the same time, Gutierrez highlighted the importance of transparency regarding the alleged misuse of P375 million in confidential funds by the Office of the Vice President.

The lawmakers collectively underscored that public officials must be accountable to the Filipino people, particularly concerning the management of public resources.
