House Assistant Majority Leader and Tingog party-list Rep. Jude Acidre slammed former President Rodrigo Duterte for his criticism of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. over rising rice prices.
Acidre pointed out that during Duterte’s administration, no concrete efforts were made to lower rice prices, while the current administration has already taken steps, including a policy allowing the release of rice buffer stocks to stabilize prices.
He emphasized that the Marcos government is actively working on solutions, unlike Duterte’s time, which lacked a food security emergency declaration.
The lawmaker also criticized Duterte for speaking out now when he did nothing to address the issue during his term.
Acidre urged Duterte not to obstruct current efforts aimed at addressing food security and rice price concerns.
