Senator Robinhood Padilla on Monday urged the public to stay calm amid reports that Senator Panfilo Lacson will return as chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, which probes alleged anomalies in government flood control projects.
Padilla expressed full support for Lacson’s reinstatement, describing him as a stabilizing choice for the high-profile investigation.
He cautioned against political mudslinging, saying it would only damage the Senate’s integrity and distract from uncovering the truth.
The senator also took a swipe at unnamed colleagues whom he described as being too partisan to lead the probe effectively.
Lacson earlier resigned from the post on October 6 following dissatisfaction from some senators over his handling of the inquiry.
