Sen. Panfilo Lacson dismissed alleged threats to the Senate leadership, likening them to a “continuing crime since time immemorial” amid renewed social media speculation.
The Senate president pro tempore said similar rumors have surfaced repeatedly in the past and are often meant to sow intrigue within the chamber.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III said he has not been informed of any dissatisfaction among his colleagues and continues to receive assurances of support from the majority.
Several senators, including Erwin Tulfo and Joseph Victor Ejercito, also downplayed talk of a leadership change, saying they have heard of no move to replace the Senate president.
Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano said leadership discussions remain mere rumors without the numbers to back them, urging lawmakers to stay focused on governance.
