Former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson announced on Friday that he will run as an independent candidate in the 2025 senatorial elections, despite being included in the administration’s slate.
He clarified that he is not affiliated with any political party but is a guest candidate for the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
Lacson expressed pride in being part of a coalition called Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, which includes five major political parties.
At the announcement event, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. endorsed Lacson as one of the 12 senatorial candidates.
Lacson, who previously ran as an independent presidential candidate in 2022, emphasized his commitment to fighting for what is right and opposing wrongdoing.
