JV EJERCITO FILES BILL TO INCREASE PHILHEALTH BUDGET BY P74 BILLION

Senator JV Ejercito filed his top 10 priority bills, including a proposed P74.4-billion supplemental budget for PhilHealth to strengthen the healthcare system and support the Universal Health Care Law.

The funding aims to cover premiums for indigents, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and beneficiaries in conflict-affected areas, addressing PhilHealth’s current shortfall.

Ejercito’s bill was the first filed in the 20th Congress, determined by a raffle system.

Meanwhile, Senator Panfilo Lacson filed a bill to ban minors from using social media, citing mental health risks and proposing strict age verification and penalties for non-compliance.

Other notable measures include Senator Sherwin Gatchalian’s bill to raise income tax exemptions and Senator Pia Cayetano’s proposal to regulate artificial intelligence systems.
