Jurassic World Rebirth dominated the Fourth of July holiday box office, earning $318.3 million globally in its five-day opening, with $147.3 million from North America and $171 million overseas.
Despite mixed reviews and a 51% Rotten Tomatoes rating, the film exceeded expectations thanks to strong word of mouth, a broad age appeal, and premium screen formats like Dolby Cinema.
China contributed $41.5 million to the total, marking the country’s biggest MPA opening of the year. Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali, Rebirth introduced a fresh storyline focused on using dinosaur DNA to cure disease rather than cloning creatures.
Universal Pictures credits the film’s strong campaign and mass appeal for its early success, setting the stage for a strong summer run.
