Filipino-Austrian singer JJ won the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in Basel with his operatic-techno ballad “Wasted Love,” securing Austria’s first win since 2014.
The 24-year-old countertenor, whose real name is Johannes Pietsch, captivated audiences with his high notes, emotional lyrics, and a black-and-white retro-style performance.
Austria topped the scoreboard with 436 points, edging out Israel and Estonia in a tense finale.
JJ’s victory was celebrated by both Austrian officials and the Philippine Consulate, with messages highlighting the pride he brought to both nations.
