Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba is set to visit the Philippines from April 29 to 30 to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries, now in their “golden age.”
During his visit, Ishiba and his wife will be welcomed by President Marcos and First Lady Liza Marcos at Malacañang, where they will discuss economic, political, and defense cooperation.
The two leaders are also expected to explore new avenues for regional peace and stability under their “strengthened strategic partnership.”
This visit follows previous meetings between Marcos and Ishiba, including a virtual meeting with former U.S. President Joe Biden in January 2025.
Malacañang highlighted that high-level exchanges have been a key feature of the growing Philippines-Japan relationship, marked by official visits from both sides in recent years.
