Italian defense firm Leonardo reaffirmed its commitment to support the Philippines’ long-term military modernization, saying it will invest in technologies and systems to help build a “future-ready” Armed Forces.
Company officials highlighted the Eurofighter Typhoon as the most suitable multi-role fighter for the country, citing its reliability, lower maintenance costs, and strong deterrence capability.
Leonardo emphasized that enhancing the Philippines’ air defense also protects European interests, given the South China Sea’s role as a major global trade route.
The firm said defending Philippine territory contributes to safeguarding international commerce.
Leonardo earlier received a government request for information on the aircraft as part of the AFP modernization efforts.
