The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has received an Islander aircraft, donated to enhance maritime operations, particularly in the West Philippine Sea amid rising tensions.
The PCG 829 BN Islander will support maritime patrols, search and rescue operations, medical evacuations, disaster response, and the transportation of personnel and supplies.
The aircraft was turned over by Presidential Legislative Liaison Office head Mark Llandro Mendoza to PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan after undergoing maintenance and inspection.
This addition complements the PCG’s existing air assets, which include a Cessna Grand Caravan and two Airbus helicopters.
The aircraft will now be integrated into the Coast Guard Aviation Command’s operations to boost its maritime domain awareness capabilities.
