The Senate impeachment court has ordered Vice President Sara Duterte to appear on July 6 at 2 p.m. for the opening of her impeachment trial, either in person or through her lawyers.
Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian, acting as presiding officer, issued the notice on July 2 and confirmed that both the defense and prosecution panels received copies.
The court said it has completed pre-trial proceedings and is ready to begin the trial, which will cover 92 hearing days allocated between the House prosecutors and the defense.
Duterte faces four articles of impeachment, including alleged misuse of confidential funds, unexplained wealth, bribery, and grave threats, with a conviction requiring at least 16 senator-judges.
If found guilty on any charge, she would be removed from office and barred from holding public positions.
