Teofilo Guadiz III has been reinstated as the chairman of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) after being suspended by President Marcos due to corruption allegations, which were later withdrawn.
Guadiz’s reinstatement comes with a pledge to uphold integrity, transparency, and efficiency in leading the LTFRB and addressing pressing issues in the transportation sector.
Transport Secretary Jaime Bautista signed a special order on November 3, reinstating Guadiz and repealing the appointment of Mercy Paras Leynes as the officer-in-charge of the LTFRB.
The Office of the Executive Secretary stated that there was no reason for Guadiz to be placed under preventive suspension unless new accusations were presented.
This development follows the recantation of Jeff Tumbado, the former head executive assistant of Guadiz, who initially made corruption allegations against his former boss.
Tumbado signed an affidavit retracting his claims just two days after making them, stating that they were based on impulse, irrational thinking, misjudgment, and poor decision-making.
