Sen. Bong Go called on the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to ensure that government-funded health facilities are completed, equipped, and fully operational, warning against projects turning into “white elephants.”
During the Senate deliberations on the DOH’s 2026 budget, Go stressed that accountability must accompany budget approval and urged both agencies to prioritize functionality over construction alone.
He lauded LGUs like Imus and General Trias for upgrading their Super Health Centers, but noted that many facilities remain idle due to staffing shortages.
The senator emphasized that community-based outpatient services could prevent costly hospitalizations and save lives through early medical intervention.
Go also questioned the continued dependence on the DPWH for projects exceeding ₱5 million, citing past infrastructure controversies.
