GO CALLS ON FILIPINOS TO GET TESTED AMID RISING HIV CASES

Senator Bong Go expressed concern over a 500-percent increase in HIV cases in the Philippines, with an average of 57 new infections reported daily from January to March.

The Department of Health (DOH) has called for HIV to be declared a national public health emergency due to this surge.

Go urged Filipinos to take advantage of free HIV testing services and emphasized the importance of early detection, awareness, and education.

He also called on the DOH to intensify its information campaigns to combat stigma and misinformation surrounding HIV.

Meanwhile, Go reaffirmed the Senate’s commitment to supporting adequate funding and programs, including Malasakit Centers, to improve access to medical assistance and strengthen the country’s HIV response.
