Senator Sherwin Gatchalian raised alarm over reported leakages in professional licensure examinations conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission, warning these could undermine professional standards and endanger public safety.
During a Senate hearing, he stressed that licensure exams are meant to ensure only qualified doctors, engineers, and teachers are allowed to practice.
Gatchalian said even allegations of leaks are deeply concerning, as compromised exams could lead to loss of lives or structural failures.
The concern followed reports by the Second Congressional Commission on Education that parts of the March 2023 Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers were allegedly leaked online.
PRC officials maintained the leaks did not originate from within the commission, though lawmakers noted they may have occurred during the exam’s actual administration.
