A Florida man had an epic encounter with a huge 19-foot Burmese python while hunting down invasive snakes in the state.
These pythons are causing a lot of trouble as they don’t have any natural predators in Florida and are multiplying rapidly, threatening the local wildlife.
On July 10th, a group of snake hunters, including 22-year-old Jake Waleri from Naples, set out to capture some of these giant reptiles.
They managed to take down a massive 19-foot python, breaking the record for the longest one ever caught in the state. Not just the state record, but they also broke the world record for catching a Burmese python.
The exciting moment was caught on video, where you can see Waleri bravely grabbing the python by the head as it lunges at him with its mouth wide open.
He and his crew struggled to subdue the snake, but they eventually succeeded, even as the python tried to coil around Waleri.
This daring capture was a big win for the effort to control the python population in Florida, as these creatures pose a significant threat to the local ecosystem.
