A Filipina-led advocacy group, Youth Uprising, has gained international recognition for its work in educating Filipino youth on food security and sustainable agriculture.
Led by 24-year-old Robyn Mijares, the group received a Special Mention in the Champion Award category from the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) during its 44th Ministerial Conference.
Mijares was also named one of the 2025 Top Agrifood Pioneers by the World Food Prize Foundation, making her the lone Filipino awardee on the list.
Youth Uprising’s Grow School initiative has trained nearly 100,000 students across 42 public schools, teaching climate-smart farming and agriculture technology through hands-on learning.
The group’s innovative approach aims to empower the youth to lead the fight against hunger and transform Philippine agriculture into a modern and sustainable sector.
