EX-PCO CHIEF GARAFIL NOW SECRETARY GENERAL OF HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Former Presidential Communications Office secretary Cheloy Garafil was unanimously elected as the new secretary general of the House of Representatives, replacing Reginald Velasco amid leadership changes following Martin Romualdez’s resignation as speaker. 

She took her oath before newly elected Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, vowing to serve with integrity and professionalism. 

The House also elected retired Brig. Gen. Melchor dela Cruz as the new sergeant-at-arms, marking the first appointments under Dy’s leadership. 

Meanwhile, Gabriela Women’s Party Rep. Sarah Elago officially assumed her seat in the 20th Congress after being proclaimed by the Commission on Elections. 

Mamamayang Liberal Rep. Leila de Lima renewed her call for officials to disclose their SALNs and pressed for the passage of the Freedom of Information Act of 2025 to strengthen transparency.
