Senate President Chiz Escudero has dismissed circulating rumors of an alleged coup against his leadership as mere nonsense.
In a recent ambush interview, he expressed his reluctance to engage with what he called “silly stories,” emphasizing that Senate officers serve at the pleasure of the majority.
Senators Loren Legarda and Cynthia Villar, named in the rumors, both denied any involvement, with Villar stating she views Escudero’s performance as “okay.”
Senator Bato dela Rosa also downplayed the coup allegations, asserting they disrupt the Senate’s peaceful environment.
While Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada confirmed that a coup attempt was discussed weeks ago, he affirmed that the majority of senators support Escudero’s leadership.
