Senate Deputy Majority Leader JV Ejercito urged lawmakers to approve additional funding for mental health programs to better support Filipinos facing mental health challenges.
He made the call following a meeting with the Philippine Council for Mental Health to discuss ongoing initiatives under the law and other measures.
Ejercito highlighted existing services, including consultations, free medicines, therapy sessions, and the 24/7 NCMH Crisis Hotline, but noted that many people remain unaware of them.
He stressed the need to intensify information campaigns to reach more beneficiaries.
The senator emphasized that even small acts of kindness, especially amid online hate and stress, can have a significant impact on mental well-being.
