Alex Eala dropped to No. 68 in the WTA rankings from No. 65 last week due to a left shoulder injury.
The injury, sustained at the National Bank Open in Canada, forced her to withdraw from the Cincinnati Open, which was her final tune-up before the US Open.
Despite the setback, Eala remains hopeful and promises to be ready for the US Open, scheduled from August 24 to September 7 in New York.
The hardcourt tournament marks a transition from her recent clay and grass campaigns in Europe.
Eala aims to achieve her first main draw win at the US Open, where she was the junior Grand Slam champion in 2022.
