DTI MOVES TO TRIM SRP LIST BY TEN ITEMS

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is planning to streamline the list of items with suggested retail prices (SRP) to focus on essential daily and emergency items, aiming to enhance price stability and consumer protection, Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual announced on Wednesday.

Ten items, including condensed milk, coffee refills, and batteries, are slated to be removed from the SRP list, while essentials like sardines, powdered milk, and toiletries will remain.

This decision follows consultations with various agencies and private sector groups, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development and industry associations.

The DTI intends to release an updated and more focused SRP bulletin within a month, reflecting data from consumer surveys and market trends discussed during a recent National Price Coordinating Council meeting.
