DTI ANNOUNCES 60-DAY PRICE FREEZE FOLLOWING STORM KRISTINE

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced a 60-day price freeze on essential goods in areas affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, which has caused several regions to declare a state of calamity.

As the storm moves away from the Philippines, there are concerns it may reintensify and return over the weekend.

DTI Secretary Cristina Roque emphasized that the agency is closely monitoring pricing and potential profiteering cases.

Affected areas include Albay, Camarines Norte, and parts of Eastern Samar, among others.

Additionally, Roque announced that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) impacted by the storm can access low-interest loans from the Small Business Corporation, with a fund of P2 billion allocated for enterprise rehabilitation.
