The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is warning voters against political candidates who are making false promises about the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
In a statement released on Thursday, the DSWD stressed that 4Ps is a government program that cannot be used for electioneering or any partisan political activities.
The DSWD also clarified that only DSWD personnel can assess whether a person is eligible for the 4Ps program. Inclusion in the Listahanan, a database of poor households, does not guarantee automatic inclusion in the 4Ps program.
The DSWD’s warning comes as the country prepares for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on October 30.
Reports indicate that many political candidates are using the 4Ps program, as well as other government aid programs, to entice constituents to vote for them.
The DSWD urged voters to be vigilant and to report any instances of political candidates using government programs for electioneering.
