DPWH UNDERSECRETARY STEPS DOWN AMID CONTRACTOR LINK CONTROVERSY

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Arrey Perez resigned amid allegations linking him to contractors involved in flood control projects.

DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said Perez stepped down voluntarily to avoid becoming a distraction while investigations continue.

Dizon assured the public that the inquiry will be independent and transparent, following President Marcos Jr.’s directive for a strict “cleansing process” within the department.

The resignation came after accusations from Batangas Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste about officials’ questionable ties to contractors.

Dizon challenged lawmakers to provide concrete names and emphasized that those found guilty of violations will be held accountable to protect public funds and ensure project efficiency.
