The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is working with the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) to fast-track 137 right-of-way (ROW) expropriation cases for major railway projects, totaling ₱1.07 billion.
Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the collaboration aims to accelerate the preparation of pleadings and secure land needed for the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) and Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP).
The DOTr plans to complete all ROW requirements for the MMSP by the second quarter of next year, while acquisitions for the northern NSCR segment are expected by mid-2026, and nine southern stations next month.
The agency has also begun ROW acquisitions for the Mindanao Railway Project, with over 1,100 accepted land offers and 381 deeds of sale signed as of Nov. 26.
Lopez emphasized that speeding up land acquisitions is critical to overcoming past setbacks and ensuring passengers benefit from these rail projects as soon as possible.
