DOTR ORDERS ONLINE PLATFORMS TO REMOVE ILLEGAL BEEP CARD SELLERS BY AUGUST 31

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has ordered online platforms like Carousell, Lazada, Meta Philippines, Shopee, and TikTok to remove all unauthorized listings selling Beep cards by August 31, 2025.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon warned that failure to comply will result in legal action against these platforms, as unauthorized sales continue despite earlier directives.

The DOTr emphasized that platforms allowing these illegal sales are complicit and could be held liable alongside the sellers.

The crackdown follows reports of syndicates hoarding Beep cards and reselling them at inflated prices, sometimes more than six times the original cost.

Authorities recently arrested a suspect caught selling Beep cards on Facebook Marketplace for P200 each, highlighting the department’s intensified efforts to curb hoarding and protect consumers.
