The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is expected to complete the feasibility study for the Manila Bay-Pasig River-Laguna Lake (MAPALLA) Ferry System by the first half of 2025, bringing the project closer to approval.
The MAPALLA ferry aims to provide an alternative mode of public transport, reducing congestion in Metro Manila.
Undersecretary Timothy John Batan emphasized the speed of the process, aiming for a mid-2025 approval.
The project will require an estimated P20 billion for infrastructure and vessel procurement, with the first leg spanning 30 kilometers and featuring 32 stations.
The system will operate with an electric fleet of 40 vessels, offering a sustainable solution to Metro Manila’s transport challenges.
