DOST SHOWCASES AI TECHNOLOGY FOR EARLY DETECTION OF NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) recently showcased i-SULAT, an AI-powered software developed by the University of Santo Tomas that analyzes children’s handwriting to detect early signs of cognitive and neurological disorders.

Designed to provide consistent and accessible assessments, i-SULAT is especially useful in areas lacking occupational therapy services and also aids stroke rehabilitation and learning disability diagnosis.

During the Talakayang HeaRT Beat event, DOST highlighted other innovations, including the Immersive Gamification Technology Systems, which support rehabilitation for cerebral palsy and Alzheimer’s patients through interactive therapy.

Another featured project, HealthPH, uses machine learning to track respiratory disease trends via social media monitoring, enabling faster public health responses.

These technologies are part of DOST-PCHRD’s Digital and Frontier Technologies for Health Program, aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility and effectiveness nationwide.
