DOH EYES TO COMPLETE DISTRIBUTION OF COVID-19 ALLOWANCE FOR HEALTH WORKERS BY YEAR-END

The Department of Health (DOH) has set a goal to distribute the remaining ₱15.2 billion worth of health emergency allowances to health workers before the conclusion of 2023 .

As of now, the government has already disbursed P46.4 billion pesos in hazard pay to healthcare workers who have been on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health Undersecretary Enrique Tayag stated that they anticipate completing the distribution before the year ends.

The DOH is working closely with the Department of Budget and Management to ensure that sufficient funds are available.

Health Secretary Ted Herbosa has been engaging with private hospital groups to address any issues related to the backlog, which is primarily caused by documentation matters.

During his second State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. made a commitment to release pending emergency allowances and benefits to health workers.
