DMW HALTS SEASONAL WORKER DEPLOYMENT TO SOUTH KOREA VIA LGUS

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) temporarily suspended the deployment of seasonal workers to South Korea from seven local government units (LGUs) due to illegal recruitment activities.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac emphasized strict compliance with protective mechanisms for worker safety.

He declined to name the affected LGUs but urged them to improve their anti-illegal recruitment efforts.

DMW officials also reported 37 illegal recruitment cases and ongoing investigations.

Despite these issues, over 6,100 workers have been deployed under revised protocols ensuring their safety and proper documentation.
