Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon on Monday assured that government infrastructure projects in 2026 will be implemented at the right price without compromising quality or speed.
He said the Department of Public Works and Highways will adopt approaches used in post-disaster rehabilitation, citing fast-tracked projects such as bridges, hospitals, and school repairs.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the DPWH to ensure public structures are durable, well-maintained, and cost-efficient.
Dizon also ordered strict adherence to the newly issued Construction Material Price Data, which aligns project costs with actual market prices and significantly lowers material rates.
He said the reform could save the government about PHP60 billion in 2026, funds that could be redirected to social services or additional road construction.
