Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the 30-day preventive suspension of Baguio City District Engineer Rene Zarate for allegedly tampering with DPWH documents and defying orders to submit records to the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI).
Dizon said there is a prima facie case against Zarate, who has 15 days to respond under Civil Service rules.
He also announced that criminal charges will be filed, and a request for an immigration lookout bulletin order will be sought from the DOJ.
The ICI, created through Executive Order 94, is investigating the multibillion-peso flood control scam and related projects.
Dizon warned all DPWH offices nationwide to preserve and turn over documents from the past 10 years or face sanctions.
