DISCAYA ADMITS 9 FAMILY-OWNED FIRMS IN FLOOD PROJECTS

Contractor Sarah Discaya admitted before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee that her family controls nine firms engaged in flood control projects, with one company, Alpha and Omega, bidding on 491 projects and winning 71.

Pressed by senators, Discaya claimed her family’s wealth came from over two decades in construction, but denied having “point persons” in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), a claim Senate leaders openly doubted.

Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada questioned how her firms managed to secure hundreds of projects and warned her to tell the truth or face accountability.

Discaya also acknowledged owning at least 28 luxury vehicles, though she had previously boasted of over 40, including a Rolls-Royce and a Bentley.

She further admitted that her family’s fortune grew significantly after winning DPWH contracts.
