DIKE IN VALENZUELA REIMAGINED AS A BEAUTIFUL BOARDWALK

The Valenzuela City government has transformed a 1.3-kilometer flood dike into a recreational walkway featuring a bike trail and additional amenities.

Spanning the villages of Coloong, Tagalag, and Wawang Polo, the new four-meter-wide linear park was inaugurated over the weekend, with Mayor Weslie Gatchalian highlighting its role in promoting a healthy lifestyle among residents.

The former flood control structure now serves as a secure space for running, walking, and cycling, benefiting both local communities and neighboring areas.

Following the inauguration, a walkathon was held, attracting over 200 senior citizens and offering activities like go-karting for children.

The event prioritized safety with medical checkups for participants and support teams on standby, culminating in awards for top finishers and recognition for the oldest participants.
