The People’s Initiative Coalition Against Dynasty (PICAD) launched a digital signature platform for its Dapat Isa Lang initiative, which seeks to end political dynasties.
The group aims to collect 7.5 million signatures, including 10% of registered voters nationwide and 3% from each district.
PICAD said the online platform was created to make participation more accessible, with digital kiosks planned in partner schools and churches.
Former Comelec chairman Christian Monsod supported the initiative, saying an anti-dynasty rule could promote wider access to public office and prevent families from circumventing term limits.
Meanwhile, Comelec Chairman George Garcia said the suspension of rules for people’s initiatives on legislative amendments has been lifted, but rules on electronic signatures still need to be addressed.
