The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said the developer of Gorebox voluntarily agreed to have the game blocked in the Philippines following its link to a Tacloban school shooting suspect.
DICT Secretary Henry Aguda said the developer was given due process but declined to present measures to address the game’s potential harmful effects.
The government had temporarily blocked Gorebox in June after authorities found that a minor suspect regularly played the game.
Meanwhile, talks with Roblox are ongoing as the platform works to meet child-safety requirements.
Aguda said Roblox has fulfilled three of five commitments, with age verification through the National ID system and a local Philippine office still pending.
