The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has launched a full investigation into the Monterrazas de Cebu development following reports of flooding and soil movement after Typhoon Tino.
A multistakeholder technical team, including DENR regional offices, Cebu City government, and barangay officials, will assess the project’s compliance with environmental regulations and its Environment Compliance Certificate (ECC).
The investigation will focus on slope stability, drainage and runoff systems, potential landslide risks, and any alteration of natural landforms or waterways.
The DENR has instructed the project proponent to submit geological and engineering assessments, which will be validated by the inspection team.
If violations are found, the agency said it will enforce corrective measures, including suspension, penalties, or other legal remedies.
