Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa announced that he will not accept any portion of the P5 billion AKAP (Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program) allocation for senators in the 2025 national budget, despite his electoral challenges.
He expressed concern over the potential misuse of such funds for political gain, particularly with the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.
Dela Rosa proposed that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) should have full control over the distribution of social assistance programs, without political involvement.
He argued that if politicians were removed from the process, it would ensure a fairer and more efficient distribution of aid.
Dela Rosa also called on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to prevent the distribution of financial aid during the campaign period to avoid vote-buying practices.
