A rocket debris marked with the Chinese flag was found floating near the shoreline of Looc, Occidental Mindoro, on August 14, discovered by a local fisherman about one nautical mile off Barangay Bonbon.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) identified the debris as likely from China’s Long March 7A rocket launched last month and has since secured it for proper disposition.
Authorities have reminded fishermen and coastal residents to report any unusual floating objects and avoid approaching rocket debris due to potential risks from toxic substances.
China conducted another rocket launch on August 4, causing concern among Palawan residents who reported loud explosions and shaking.
President Marcos Jr. has requested China to provide advance notice of any potential debris falling within Philippine territory from future launches.
