The Davao City government will acquire 20 additional electric buses for the Davao Interim Bus Service under a proposed P200-million allocation in Supplemental Budget No. 1 for 2026.
City officials said the expansion, ordered by Mayor Sebastian Duterte, aims to improve public transport efficiency and reduce commuter wait times through fleet expansion and system digitalization.
The city also plans to develop a real-time tracking platform for buses and establish charging stations to support electric vehicle operations.
The supplemental budget, which totals over P1.25 billion, has been approved on second reading and includes funding for social services, infrastructure, and transport improvements.
Officials said the budget prioritizes urgent city needs, including improvements to the bus system and related transport facilities.
