Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan expressed optimism that the ongoing multi-billion-peso flood control scam could spark a political awakening among Filipino youth.
In the first episode of his “Kikonek” podcast, he noted that many young Filipinos are now questioning rampant corruption and seeking answers about societal issues.
Pangilinan emphasized that political awareness develops gradually, beginning with asking questions and critically examining events.
He shared his own journey of awakening during the Marcos dictatorship, following Ninoy Aquino’s assassination as an example of how civic engagement can be nurtured.
The senator urged young people to remain persistent in seeking accountability and transparency, reminding them that the future depends on their active participation.
