Twenty-five overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) along with a 4-month-old infant arrived in the Philippines from Israel on Monday, as part of the government’s repatriation efforts.
This marks the third group of OFWs returning home since the conflict between Israel and Hamas commenced. Among the returnees, 16 were employed as caregivers and 9 as hotel workers, with 22 being women and three being men.
Eleven of the workers completed their contracts, while 14 chose to terminate their employment early to come back to the Philippines.
According to Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Usec. Hans Leo Cacdac, a total of 60 Filipinos have so far taken advantage of the government’s repatriation program.
The department is currently handling an additional 120 requests from OFWs who wish to be included in upcoming repatriation groups. Another batch of OFWs is expected to arrive in the country within the week.
Among the 650 OFW families in the Philippines seeking assistance from the DMW for their loved ones in Israel, 648 have been accounted for by the government, while two are still unaccounted for.
