CONGRESS RACES AGAINST TIME TO HANDLE DUTERTE IMPEACHMENT COMPLAINTS

The House of Representatives is fast-tracking three impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte, with officials aiming to bypass the usual House committee deliberations if at least 103 lawmakers endorse one complaint.

House Secretary-General Reginald Velasco confirmed that the complaints will be acted upon this week before the congressional break on February 7.

The third complaint, endorsed by Rep. Gabriel Bordado Jr., accuses Duterte of undermining democratic principles and making incendiary threats against top officials.

Malacañang has stated it will not interfere, while President Marcos dismissed the impeachment as a waste of time.

The Senate could soon form an impeachment court if the threshold of endorsements is met.
