COMELEC, PAO JOIN FORCES TO FIGHT VOTE-BUYING, VOTE-SELLING

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) forged a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on Monday to jointly combat the issues of vote-buying and vote-selling.

The signing ceremony was led by Comelec chairperson George Garcia and PAO chief Persida Acosta.

This MOA signing took place just days before the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataang Elections slated for October 30.

Garcia stressed in his address the critical importance of this collaborative effort in addressing the “modern cancer of democracy.”

Acosta, in turn, highlighted that this partnership will safeguard the integrity of the people’s voice and reinforce the foundations of the nation’s democracy and the rule of law.
