Comelec Holds Briefing on Barangay and SK Elections for Government Agencies
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) recently briefed various government agencies in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).

The briefing aimed to encourage collaboration and coordination among these agencies to ensure that the public can exercise their right to vote.

The briefing was attended by agencies like the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Philippine National Police (PNP). Election watchdogs such as NAMFREL and PPCRV were also present.

According to Comelec, these agencies must work together, share their expertise, and align their efforts to facilitate a smooth and fair voting process.

The election period for BSKE will begin on August 28, which is also the first day for filing the certificate of candidacy (COC). COC filing will be open until September 2.

Once a person files their COC, they are considered a candidate and are prohibited from engaging in premature campaigning. Campaigning is only allowed from October 19 to 28.

The gun ban will be in effect from August 28 to November 29 to ensure a safe and peaceful election period.

Meanwhile, election day will take place on October 30.
