The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has denied the motion for reconsideration to block Apollo Quiboloy’s senatorial bid.
In a seven-page ruling, Comelec dismissed the motion filed by labor leader Sonny Matula, stating it lacked merit.
The commission upheld its First Division’s decision to allow Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ and an alleged child abuser, to run for senator.
Comelec emphasized that the procedural and substantive issues raised had already been thoroughly addressed by the First Division.
The ruling noted that any procedural flaws in Matula’s petition were irrelevant as the substantive arguments were already resolved.
