BUCOR TAKES DOWN 2,812 ‘KUBOLS’ IN NEW BILIBID PRISON CRACKDOWN

On Tuesday, the head of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), Gregorio Catapang, Jr., announced that the agency has dismantled 2,812 cubicles, or “kubols,” in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) as part of their crackdown that started in late August.

The crackdown focused on 13 buildings in the NBP to ensure the safety and security of the inmates, who are referred to as Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).

This action was taken in response to a gang fight that occurred inside the NBP, which escalated into a shooting resulting in the death of one inmate and injuries to several others.
